Five Have A
Wonderful Time

By - Enid Blyton
First published in 1952

In this, the Five's eleventh adventure, they have been loaned two "funny" old traveller type caravans and are staying in a field close to historic Faynights Castle.

The Five are excited at the arrival of a group of "fair folk" but their excitement turns to disappointment when the fair folk turn out to be unfriendly and just want to be left to
themselves.  At first life is very unpleasant for everyone as the fair folk totally refuse to be friendly.  The Five come home from exploring the area and find that their caravans had been moved to another field!  This is the last straw for Julian, and he decides to confront the fair folk!

A very unpleasant situation is avoided by the appearance of Jo (the ragamuffin girl from Five Fall Into Adventure
) who
convinces the fair folk that the Five are her friends!  Things are much better after that, and everyone gets on well together.  The Five meet Alfredo the fire eater (Jo's uncle), the Snake Man, Bufflo (with his whip), Mister India Rubber and lots of other colourful characters.

Then they see a face peering sadly from one of the towers of Faynights Castle.  The face looked familiar!  They believe it to be one of the missing scientists the newspapers had been talking about.

With the help of Jo (once more!) and the fair folk, the Five set out to solve the mystery and, at the same time, have "A
Wonderful Time!"
